A performance the audience helps bring to life
According to the official announcement, the production gives a modern interpretation to a classic story led by Chunpung’s wife. It includes a gosa ritual and a closing celebration in which the audience takes part, offering the chance to become part of the performance as well as watch it. Talking with your companions beforehand about the moments you might laugh and respond to can make the visit more enjoyable.
Check your performance time and admission conditions
Performances start at 19:30 on Fridays that are not public holidays, and at 15:00 on other performance days and public holidays. All times are in Korean Standard Time. The performance lasts 120 minutes without an interval. Check the time of your chosen performance again before booking.
All seats cost KRW 70,000. Admission is for primary-school children and older, with the birth-date cutoff depending on the performance year. For 2026 performances, audience members must have been born on or before 31 December 2019; for 2027 performances, on or before 31 December 2020. Bring evidence of the date of birth. If admission is refused on the day because the age conditions were not checked, cancellation, refund or changes are not available.
Match your chosen performance with its booking schedule
Bookings are open for November and December performances. For performances from 1 to 24 January 2027, general booking is scheduled to open at 14:00 on 17 November, while package booking opens at 14:00 on 13 November. Choose the date and time on the booking screen and check seat availability. Comparing several performances in advance can help you agree on a date with your companions.
Cancellation and change deadlines
Under the National Theater of Korea’s general guidance, cancellations made at least eight days before the performance incur no cancellation fee. A 10% deduction applies from seven to three days before, and a 20% deduction from two to one day before. Cancellations made on the booking day receive a full refund if they are within the cancellation deadline. Some performances may have different conditions. Cancellations and changes are available until 17:00 on the day before the performance and are not available on the performance day. If you bought through another ticket seller, contact that seller first.
Plan your route to Namsan
The official directions give a walking time of around 10–15 minutes from Dongguk University Station to the theater. Before performances, a shuttle departs from the Namsan circular-bus stop by Exit 6 of the station. It operates from one hour to 20 minutes before the performance; times may be adjusted according to demand, so check the guidance on the day. Allow enough time for a meal and the journey, and share your meeting place and chosen performance with your companions in advance.
