When to use it

Open a record when preparing the work. Link later checks and changes using the same item ID.

What to have ready

  • Receipt/custody arrangements and release authority/transfer procedure
  • Private item descriptions/photos and lawful minimum receipt requirements
  1. Assign each item an ID and record current location and custodian.

  2. Have the designated owner compare the claimant’s prior account with the item.

  3. Record the release decision separately from actual handover or onward custody and update the register.
